Before using Genesis connected services

What is Genesis Connected services?

The telematics service by Genesis Connected Services supporting not only the security, the diagnosis and the remote control, but also the more comfortable and fund driving experience through smartphone connection based on the most advanced IT system.

Regarding Wireless Signal Transmission and Reception

Genesis Connected Services communicates with Genesis Connected Services System using the mobile communication network so that the service can be limited depending the environment of mobile communication network operated by the mobile communication service provider.

Check the icon () at the top status bar for the radio transmission/reception condition.

When the antenna bars indicating the radio condition are 4 or more, the condition is optimal to use Genesis Connected Services system.

The following locations may affect the connection to the Genesis Customer Center and the transmission and reception of wireless data.

Places where radio wave transmission/reception affects the use of Genesis connected services:

  • In tunnels

  • Mountain areas or Heavily forested roads

  • Road close to a cliff

  • Building concentrated area

  • Road under expressway or multi-level road

  • Insides of buildings

  • Shaded areas due to the service provider's policy on the network coverage

Genesis Connected Services features are available when the service is subscribed. There may be additional costs associated with Genesis Connected Services, and features may vary depending on your subscription plan.

  1. Press Connected Services on the home screen.

  2. Select a desired items.

    • Location Sharing: Shares the location of your car with others quickly and easily.

    • Calendar: Checks the events of the connected calendar in the MY GENESIS app.

    • Weather: Checks the weather information at the current location or the weather forecast for one week.

    • Sports: Checks the game information by sport such as baseball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, golf, etc.

    • Vehicle Diagnostics: Checks diagnose whether there is an abnormality in the vehicle.

    • Connected Services Settings: Checks the service subscription status and modem information.

Location sharing

The location information can be shared for 60 minutes or EAT +30 minutes in real-time to another person by entering his/her phone number.

Activating Location Sharing
  1. Press Connected Services > Location Sharing on the home screen.

  2. Press Send after entering the name of receiver or the number.

    • From: To change the sender’s information, press [] > Caller Info to change it in the sender’s information screen.

    • To: When Bluetooth is connected, you can search the address book.

    • Destination: When you set a destination in the navigation, the destination is automatically shared.

    • Message: You can select a message to be sent to the recipient.

    • Send: Starts location sharing. It will be sent as a text message to the recipient and will be shared for 60 minutes if there is no destination, or for the arrival time + 30 minutes if the destination is set.

  3. Press Send > Agree when you share location.

  • A list of currently sharing a location is not available for deleting. Deleting is enabled after canceling or terminating the sharing.

  • Location sharing is available for max. 15 persons.

  • Up to 15 Location Sharing lists are saved, and if they are exceeded, they will be automatically deleted from previously shared lists.

  • If the vehicle is turned off, location sharing is stopped after 5 seconds.

  • () is specified at the top right of the screen during Location Sharing.

  • The location/remaining time/distance may not be accurate due to the network conditions or others.

Sending Location Sharing

A user can share user's vehicle location to the other person who wants user's car location, show calling list and details, reshare, cancel, and delete.

Receiving Location Sharing

A user can receive the location shared by the other person and show the reception list and details, and select the current location/destination of the other person to set the destination in the navigation.

Cancelling Location Sharing
  1. Press Stop Sharing.

  2. Select the desired item and press OK > Yes.

    • Mark All: Selects all items.

    • Unmark All: Unmarks all items.

    • Cancel: Exits screen.

Deleting Location Sharing
  1. Press [] > Delete.

  2. Select the desired item, Press Delete > Yes.

    • Mark All: Selects all items.

    • Unmark All: Unmarks all items.

    • Cancel: Exits screen.

A list of currently sharing a location is not available for deleting. Deleting is enabled after canceling or terminating the sharing.

Receiving pick up requests

The recipient of the location share can request pickup from their smart phone.

When you receive a pickup request, you can set the pickup location as your destination.

The received pickup location is displayed on the map screen or the split screen.

If you want to use this function, press Set as Destination on the location sharing screen of your smart phone.

Calendar

The customer's calendar (Google or iCloud) must be linked through the MY GENESIS app at first.

In the vehicle, you can check the schedule on the linked calendar and set a destination in the included location information.

Press Connected Services > Calendar on the home screen.

Searching Destination

If there is place information on the schedule details screen, you can select Search for Destination to search for a location and set it as a destination to receive directions.


Receiving event notification

The schedule notification pop up is provided according to the entered time setting of notification when creating the schedule.


Calendar event and location sharing

If you do not arrive on time when you select a place on your schedule as your destination, you will be instructed to provide the location sharing service to the other person.

Weather

Provides real-time weather information for your current location and destination. It also provides one week weather forecast.

Checking the weather today

Displays live weather information on the screen.

Press Connected Services > Weather > [] on the home screen.

  • 3 hours/6 hours: Displays weather, temperature, and probability of precipitation/snowfall.

Press Connected Services > Weather > [] on the home screen.

Sports

Provides real-time game information for each sport, such as baseball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, golf, etc.

Events are provided only during the competition period, such as the Olympics (Summer/Winter), Asian Games, World Cup, and World Championships in Athletics.

Press Connected Services > Sports on the home screen.

Checking sports

Setting My Teams

If you set a team of interest for each event, you can collect and check only the matches of the team you are interested in.

In each event screen, you can check the game information of the team you are interested in first.

You can set up up to 20 teams, including golf tours.

  1. Press [] > My Teams Settings on the home screen.

  2. If you select the desired team, it is registered as my team. And you can check the information of the registered team first.

Vehicle Diagnostics

After diagnosing the vehicle, it displays whether each system is abnormal or not. Switching the screen automatically cancels the vehicle diagnostics.

  1. Press Connected Services > Vehicle Diagnostics on the home screen.

    Any necessary item for inspection are specified after vehicle diagnostics.

  2. Select the system with the problem to see more details.

    • If you select Nearby Service Center, you can search for a nearby repair shop and get directions.

    • If you select Service Link, the call is connected to the service center.

Genesis Connected Services Settings

Service Activation

The menu to start the Genesis Connected Services subscription for a new vehicle. The method of service activation may differ from individual customers and corporate customers.


Individual customer

  1. Press Connected Services > Connected Services Settings > Activate on the home screen.

  2. The verification number will be sent to the mobile phone number listed in the vehicle sale contract.

  3. Enter the verification code sent to your mobile phone number.

  4. After authentication is complete, press Next.

  5. After agreeing to the terms and conditions, press Next.

  6. Your registration is complete.


Corporate customer

  1. Press Connected Services > Connected Services Settings > Activate on the home screen.

  2. You must verify your identity with your mobile phone. Press Enter Phone Number and enter your mobile phone number.

  3. Enter the verification code sent to your mobile phone number.

  4. After authentication is complete, press Next.

  5. After agreeing to the terms and conditions, press Next.

  6. Your registration is complete.

  • The opening time is up to 5 minutes.

  • Do not turn off the vehicle during the subscription process.

  • If opening fails, contact the Genesis Customer Center (080-700-6000).

  • Hard key on the head unit is not functional during the subscription process.

Modem Information

Shows the modem number/USIM/IMEI/VIN.

Press Connected Services > Connected Services Settings > Modem Information on the home screen.

  • Modem Number: Shows the number of Genesis Connected Services terminal.

  • USIM: Shows the serial number of USIM card.

  • IMEI: Displays the unique identification number of the connected terminal.

  • VIN: If you need to register your vehicle when you sign up for the connected car service, you can scan the VIN QR code with the MY GENESIS app to register your vehicle.
