Guide to using Voice Recognition

Creating an environment inside the car

You can operate the features of AV and navigation system with voice in Hands-free mode.

For ideal voice recognition performance, please observe the followings.

  • Only the commands in the user's manual will work correctly. Make sure to check the instructions in the manual before using.

  • The microphone is located above the driver's head, so keep your posture upright and enter your voice commands.

  • Be careful to prevent loud noise from entering the microphone.

  • If the air conditioner wind is too hard or the other device makes a loud noise, it may not be recognized well, so adjust it properly.

  • Create the environment in your vehicle as quiet as possible and speak a little louder to improve voice recognition performance.

  • If you turn the a/VOL button up/down on the head unit during the voice recognition process, it will change the volume of the voice recognition guidance.

  • Voice commands should be pronounced naturally and clearly, like a dialogue, without interrupting the words.

  • If a one-word name with a single syllable is registered in the phone book, it is not recognized properly. (ex: Tom, June)

  • If the phone book contains special symbols, it will not be recognized as voice. (ex: Hong Gil Dong_Friend, Jack!)

  • When entering a phone book, words containing alphabets or numbers are recognized only as alphabetic pronunciations and numeric monosyllables. (ex: “EMART123” is recognized only as “E, M, A, R, T, One Hundred Twenty Three”)

  • If you change the language displayed on the system to English/Korean, the voice recognition feature is not supported. Change the system language to 한국어. For details, refer to 'Language'.

Getting started with Voice Recognition

Press the [k] on the steering wheel remote control.

  • If Reduce the Number of Voice Recognition Prompts is set, voice guidance is minimized when using voice recognition.

Skipping Voice Recognition Guidance

Press the [k] on the steering wheel remote control briefly again during the voice recognition guidance.

Ending Voice Recognition

Press and hold the [k] on the steering wheel remote control while voice recognition system is operating.

While the voice recognition system is operating, tap any button on the head unit or press the End on the screen.

Adjusting the guidance volume of the Voice Recognition

You can adjust the guidance volume of the voice recognition by turning the a/VOL button up/down on the head unit or by pressing the [K / L] wheel button on the steering wheel remote control while a voice guidance is operating.

Basic Operation

  1. Press the [k] on the steering wheel remote control.

    While the system voice guidance is operating, press the [k] shortly to stop the guidance and enter voice commands. The voice recognition guidance will be terminated immediately and together with beep sound, you can enter voice commands.

  2. If you hear a beep after the voice guidance, speak the desired frequency. (ex: 전화 걸기)

  3. Says the voice commands that you want. (ex: <이름>에게 전화)

  4. The input command is fed back to the screen and system voice. To return to the previous screen, enter the "이전 화면" command.

  5. The list can be provided with more than one page and can be moved to the desired page by using commands such as "이전 페이지" and "다음 페이지".

  6. If you do not know much about the commands, you can see the detailed command list by using the "전체기능" command.

Destination Search

The destination is set through the voice recognition.

  1. Press the [k] on the steering wheel remote control.

  2. If you hear a beep say the desired destination. (ex: 서울역 안내해줘)

  3. Say the list of the places you want to go. (ex: 첫번째)

  4. Say Yes.

It is possible to use this function after signing up the Genesis Connected Service.

Information Search

Many contents are an available through the voice recognition.

  1. Press the [k] on the steering wheel remote control.

  2. If you hear a beep say the desired information. (ex: 쥐띠 운세 알려줘, 미세먼지 농도 알려줘, 오늘의 뉴스 틀어줘)

    For a detailed list of searchable function, refer to All Functions-Contents on the voice recognition screen.

  3. The result of the searched command is displayed on the screen.

It is possible to use this function after signing up the Genesis Connected Service.

Vehicle Control

The vehicle is controlled through the voice recognition.

  1. Press the [k] on the steering wheel remote control.

  2. If you hear a beep say the vehicle function that you want to control. (ex: 공조 틀어줘, 에어컨 꺼줘)

    For a detailed list of searchable function, refer to All Functions-Contents on the voice recognition screen. (Supported vehicle control commands may vary by vehicle type.)

  3. Vehicle control works.

It is possible to use this function after signing up the Genesis Connected Service.

Previous Destination

You set one of your previous destinations as your destination.

  1. Press the [k] on the steering wheel remote control.

  2. If you hear a beep say “최근 목적지”.

  3. Say the list of the places you want to go. (ex: 첫번째)

Home

Home, which is already registered, is set as a destination.

  1. Press the [k] on the steering wheel remote control.

  2. If you hear a beep say “우리집”.

  3. Home, which is already registered, is set as a destination.

If home is not set in the address book, move to The settings screen.

Dial

The phone number registered already will be connected.

  1. Press the [k] on the steering wheel remote control.

  2. If you hear a beep say “전화 걸기”.

  3. Say the name of the person you want to call.

  4. Dialing the number.
